Supreme Court attorney and SCOTUSblog co-founder Tom Goldstein was convicted of tax and mortgage fraud, following allegations that he participated in high-stakes poker games and failed to disclose his winnings (on tax returns) and losses (on loan applications). Today he was sentenced to how many years in prison?
Hint: Although it’s less than the eight years prosecutors requested, it’s also more time in prison than Goldstein is said to have offered him during plea negotiations. This is in addition to the $3.1 million in restitution he was ordered to pay. He will also be on supervised release for five years following his prison sentence.
